Snow

I have never really minded the snow and cold weather. In fact, I used to look forward to it. My thyroid surgery changed that (along with other things). During the coldest times of the year, I usually have two long sleeved shirts on, plus I bought wool socks that I wear with my slippers. Our bed still has three blankets on it, plus flannel sheets, just so that I can stay warm.

This isn't supposed to be about how we stay warm. Last week we had a storm blitz through Rochester and in about 4 hours had dumped about 6 inches of snow. Ben and Russell got out of school early and had (the first-ever) two hour delay the next day. The kids were out playing in it by 8 am.

One of the things I like most about the snow is that at night it stays so bright outside because of the snow clouds above and the fresh snow on the ground. Instead of darkness coming in the window, there is a nice glow. It is so bright that I was able to take these pictures no problem.

Good thing it stays bright so Ben can shovel at night.

We got 6 inches from that storm too. The kids got out of school at 10:30 and had a snow day the next day. We have to make the days up now at the end of the year. :(
